Lessons— Policy & Terms

Pricing tiers

Prices are divided into three tiers: Supporter (for those who can contribute a little extra to help subsidise lessons for others), Sustainer (the standard rate), and Supported (a reduced rate for those experiencing financial hardship). Current prices for both monthly subscriptions and ad hoc lessons are listed on the Lessons page of my website.

Monthly subscriptions

Your subscription is a flat monthly rate, designed for consistency and easy budgeting, and includes planned teacher holidays. Lessons take place across 45 weeks of the year, and your subscription reserves a specific weekly lesson slot. Scheduled holidays are communicated at least two weeks in advance and included in the annual 45-week teaching calendar.

If you wish to cancel your subscription, one month's notice is required and greatly appreciated. This will end your weekly slot, which will then be made available for new bookings.

Ad hoc / pay-as-you-go lessons

Ad hoc sessions can be booked up to one week in advance and are subject to availability.

Cancellations and illness

Lessons begin and end at the scheduled time; late arrival will not extend the lesson.

If I am unwell, lessons will be offered online. If a student is unwell or showing symptoms of illness, lessons should be taken online where possible. If an online lesson is not taken in these circumstances, the standard cancellation policy below applies.

For subscription students: cancellations made with at least 24 hours' notice will receive a make-up credit, valid for 365 days (maximum 20 credits held at any one time). Make-up credits are redeemed via the My Music Staff student portal, where available slots are published and can be booked directly (login details provided upon registration). Make-up slots are subject to availability, are not guaranteed, and cannot be booked less than 12 hours or more than 60 days in advance. For group lessons, make-up credits are only issued when all participants are absent and rebook the same make-up session together.

For ad hoc students: cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged in full.

If I cancel a lesson outside of a scheduled holiday, either a make-up credit or a reduction on a future invoice will be provided (subscription students), or the lesson will not be charged (ad hoc students).

Payment

Subscription payments are made via the invoice system. Ad hoc lessons are invoiced on the 1st of each month for sessions taken during the previous month. Payments more than 10 days late will incur a 5% fee. All payments are non-refundable; however, in certain circumstances, make-up credits or invoice adjustments may be offered for subscription students.

Ending lessons

I reserve the right to end a subscription at my discretion, without prior notice if necessary, in cases of non-payment, repeated missed lessons, or inappropriate behaviour.
