During my time at the RCM, I studied the Alexander Technique with Judith Kleinman, who also introduced me to yoga. That work gave me a much deeper understanding of embodied playing and performing, and mindful learning has stayed central to how I teach ever since — helping students play with less tension, more awareness, and more enjoyment.
I grew up in the Brecon Beacons and feel lucky to now be settling into an ocean-centred life here in North Devon. I'm grateful for the chance to keep sharing my passion for the guitar while enjoying the outdoor spaces around me — and I hope my work can give something back to the people, communities, and environments that have given me so much.
I hold a First Class Honours degree in classical guitar from the Royal College of Music, a DipABRSM in instrumental teaching, and ABRSM Grade 8 in both guitar and music theory. I've spent almost a decade teaching — leading national guitar ensembles, working in schools, and running my own private tuition practice. I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and have completed safeguarding training
As a performer, I've played both solo and in bands at venues including Wigmore Hall, the V&A, and the Royal Opera House, as well as festivals across the UK and Spain. I co-wrote and performed on the debut album of alt-rock band Alanaire, recorded in Mallorca, and led workshops and ensembles with the National Youth Guitar Ensemble Fellowship.
