A place to slow down, tune in and rediscover the joy of playing

Many guitarists reach a point where playing starts to feel like hard work. The joy that first drew them to the instrument quietly fades — replaced by goals, comparisons, and a sense of never quite being good enough.

If that feels familiar, you're not alone — and you haven't lost anything. Sometimes we just need to come back to the simplest thing: the guitar in your hands, and the music that moves you.

That's what The Guitar Circle is for.

A different kind of guitar learning

Most guitar content is about getting somewhere — learning faster, playing better, achieving more. The Guitar Circle takes a different view.

Real connection to your instrument doesn't come from pushing harder. It comes from slowing down, paying attention, and finding pleasure in the playing itself — not in a future version of it.

This is a space built around that idea.

The T.E.A.C.H Framework

Everything here is shaped by five simple pillars:

T — Technique
Skills that serve your playing, not the other way around.

E — Expression
Finding your own voice — curious, creative, and genuinely yours.

A — Awareness
A relaxed body and a quiet mind make for more expressive, enjoyable playing.

C — Connection
Music is richer when it's shared — with others, and with yourself.

H — Heart
Playing from a place of joy and meaning, rather than pressure or obligation.

About Eirian

The Guitar Circle is the online home of Eirian — guitarist, teacher, and Royal College of Music graduate based in Braunton, North Devon.

After years of teaching, performing, and training in the Alexander Technique, I've come to believe that presence is the most important thing a guitarist can cultivate. Not speed, not repertoire — just the ability to really be there, with the instrument, in the moment.

That belief doesn't just come from music. It comes from time in the water surfing, from a meditation and yoga practice, and from the simple experience of what happens when you stop striving and start arriving — in whatever you're doing. The guitar, like the ocean, has a way of bringing you back to yourself when you let it.

Everything I create here grows from that belief.
